    This role offers the chance to be an influential part of a forward thinking and ambitious cross-functional development team delivering web based business solutions utilising Azure Cloud technologies and continuous delivery.


    The team has adopted the Agile Scrum development methodology and utilises Microsoft Team Foundation Server, developing predominantly C# .NET solutions along with Entity Framework 6.


    You will need to be highly motivated and a proven track record of promoting technical standards such as CI development processes, and work closely with other technical personnel to deliver new solutions on a variety of platforms. 


    About The Team


    The European Application Development Team is part of the European arm of a highly successful US based car rental company and was introduced in 2006 to cater for business applications and reporting requirements specific to the European market. We are moving from being a European team to joining the wider Global IT team. The purpose of this position is specifically to support us with the transition by being part of solution teams. Each solution team is team is made up of Software Engineers, Project Managers, Analyst and other technical personnel. 



    • Deliver simple and complex software solutions using Microsoft Visual Studio .Net (primarily C#) independently as well as part of a team.
    • Develop unit tests and other appropriate developer test harnesses
    • Provide input to non-functional requirements such as application performance, accessibility and security.
    • Monitor local development builds, application integration builds and code merges to ensure appropriate practices are being followed; ensure orderly promotion of applications to quality assurance and/or production environments
    • Develop, communicate, and implement technical standards, processes, and procedures for the team
    • Maintain release documentation for application modifications and updates in support of audit checks
    • Work closely with business representatives and cross-functional teams in the UK, the US and Europe to continually determine and validate direction of developed solutions
    • Assist with implementation of task automation and process improvements; recommend enhancements that result in increased quality and efficiency


    • Experience in developing solutions on the Microsoft development stack
    • Understanding of IIS 7.0 and SQL Server
    • Experienced with an understanding of C#, .NET 4.5(+), SOLID principles, SOAP, XML, MVC 5, LinQ, JQuery, CCS, Bootstrap, Entity Framework 6
    • Strong UI skills in developing web applications
    • Azure, Visual Studio Team Services and Release Management would be advantageous but not essential 
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Self-motivated with exceptional work ethic and attention to detail
    • Enthusiastic, energetic and positive approach to business requests, problems and challenges
